Exploring Arlington: The Residential Waterfront


Arlington may forever be known as Jacksonville's first major post-war suburb built for the accommodation of the automobile. However, its residential architectural diversity and mature landscape are overlooked assets that make it unique in Jacksonville.

While Jacksonville's urban core historic neighborhoods offer an impressive array of late 19th/early 20th century building stock, Arlington is home to a large collection of custom-built residences developed in the late 20th century. This tranquil setting can be captured with a calming drive, bicycle ride or walk paralleling the St. Johns River between the Arlington River and Mill Cove.
