MetroJacksonville Book "Club"?
« on: May 11, 2016, 09:52:04 AM »
Would anyone be interested in reading a particular book with me. I would love to team up with around five people to give the below book a read and have constructive and thoughtful conversation (and debate) on the topic.

The thread on abolishing prisons led me to a short book by Angela Davis, "Are Prison Obsolete?" It's six small chapters long. Davis provides a fairly good birds eye of the "arguments" of this movement.

I'm not sure what is the best way to book club something but I think a mixture of online conversation and meeting in person woulld be a fantastic way to connect on this subject.

I'm in for it.  I was just talking with a friend yesterday about how great it would be to have a book club to discuss such topics; my friend advised they don't have time to read for "fun."  So I'm up for some fun.

Four is good. I guess I'll try to come up with some sort of a structure over the weekend and see if it jives with everyone else...?
